Band 6 - Salary Range $95,073 to $103,531 per annum + 11.5% Super + ADO

The Opportunity

Council’s Waste & Cleaning Operations Team have an exciting opportunity for an experienced candidate to join us at Melton City Council. Reporting to the Coordinator Waste and Cleaning Operations; Council is seeking an experienced candidate to oversee the management and operations of Councils transfer station contract.

As part of Councils Operations team, the role will manage contractual obligations on behalf of the organisation whilst ensuring the delivery of services in accordance with industry best practice, state legislation and the Environment Protection Act Principles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure Council’s Transfer station operations comply with EPA Victoria, Sustainability Victoria and Recycling Victoria’s operating and reporting requirements.
  • Administer the service delivery of the transfer station and resale shop contracts and associated operations to ensure the delivery of specified targets, objectives, OHS and legislative compliance, risk management and expenditure.
  • Attend and participate in regional forums and seminars pertaining to the waste industry, staying abreast of State Government policy, strategies, change and innovations to assist the Coordinator in informing Council and/or preparing appropriate plans and strategies to address such matters.
  • Assist the Coordinator in the development, delivery and implementation of strategic actions, tenders, contract specifications, team plans, policy development and any other strategic matters as directed.

About you

To be successful in this role you will have the following:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in engineering, environmental science, management or a closely related field, or substantial operational experience in a similar role.
  • Demonstrated experience in Landfill and/or Transfer Station operations and management including EPA Victoria compliance.
  • Proven ability to effectively manage contractor performance, including conflict resolution, negotiation and performance improvements.
  • Current valid Victorian Driver’s Licence.
  • Availability to work 2 weekend days per month.
