Join Our Waste Management Team as Solo Operators at Banyule City Council.

Banyule City Council Operations Department is responsible for providing a range of services to Council including the collection of waste and recyclable materials from within the municipality, waste management policy and waste education, the operation of the Banyule Waste Recovery Centre, mechanical sweeping of roads and footpaths, inspection, cleaning and maintenance of pits and drains, management of water harvesting and water sensitive urban design facilities, clearance of litter bins from shopping centres, cleaning of Council’s toilet blocks and barbeques, the management of Council's plant and Fleet and maintenance of Council infrastructure that includes roads, footpaths, shared trails, signs and street furniture.

About the Role:

The Solo Operator is responsible for independently servicing the community safely and efficiently. This will include the safe and efficient provision of waste services to the community, including households, businesses, commercial premises, parks, and hard waste.

Assist the Council in achieving waste reduction and recovery targets and corporate environmental goals, including assistance with contamination management.

Skills, experience and certificates:

Qualifications and Experience

  • Heavy rigid truck licence essential.
  • Demonstrated experience in collection of household garbage/recycling/organics, commercial, parks waste, dump rubbish and hard waste and operating a side and rear loader.
  • History of safe and competent operation of vehicles.
  • Work Health and Safety awareness and understanding.
  • Commitment to high ethical standards

  • Demonstrated ability to understand, value and respond to different personal styles and to treat people with respect and courtesy.

Communicates with Influence

  • Demonstrated ability to listen to and consider different ideas and discuss issues without getting personal or aggressive.
  • Basic computer skills
