Council’s Senior Building Fire Safety Officer is responsible for ensuring improved community, environmental and development standards of the built and natural environment through the application of environmental health and building expertise. The role is key to managing Council’s Fire Safety Statement Program under the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 and is responsible for providing fire safety advice under the Building Code of Australia in relation to the construction of commercial premises.
Council is seeking a motivated individual who can comfortably interpret and advise on legislation, who has excellent written and verbal communication skills, can explain complex legislation in plain English terms, and can overcome customer objections to ensure compliance. The role offers a high degree of autonomy within a supportive team and organisation.
Due to the nature of this role, applicants will require:
• Degree or advanced diploma qualifications in building surveying or a related field
• Australian drivers licence
• Ability to work from the Blue Mountains local government area for the majority of the work week. Some flexibility options will also be available.
• The ability to balance field work, relationship management and reporting
Remuneration: base salary commencing at $100,949 gross per annum
+ 11.5% superannuation
+ performance payment 1% - 3.5% annual salary
+ annual award increase
