Are you passionate about preserving and enhancing our community’s parks, gardens, and recreational spaces? We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Manager of Recreation and Open Spaces to lead our efforts in maintaining parks and ensuring vibrant recreational areas for our residents of the Glen Innes Severn region.  

As the Manager of Recreation and Open Spaces, you will be an advocate for change, bringing new ideas and innovations to the role, transitioning the Open Spaces and Recreation portfolio to achieve optimal results through the adoption of best practice standards. You will drive best practice in open space management through the development and delivery of strategic plans, efficient operations and implementation of quality standards. Additionally, you will manage procurement, projects and contract for capital improvements, ensuring quality outcomes and compliance with regulations.

The Manager of Recreation and Open Spaces will:

  • Lead and manage the Recreation and Open Spaces team
  • Bring expertise and innovation to the department, fostering creativity and strategic leadership
  • Manage human and financial resources effectively to achieve departmental goals

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • Experience in the delivery of operation, maintenance and capital works programs
  • Aptitude for management and administration of a department, including budget development and administration and development of operational and strategic plans
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to prepare clear and concise reports and relay information at all levels
  • Successful team building experience with the ability to motivate and enhance innovation
  • Procurement, project and contract management skills
  • Current Class C driver's licence (car licence)
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or related experience
