About the role

The City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder is seeking a visionary Manager Facilities to join our dedicated team and drive initiatives that enhance the livability of Kalgoorlie-Boulder.

In this role, you will oversee several multidisciplinary teams and service areas, ensuring the successful delivery of projects and initiatives that align with our strategic goals. This role offers a unique opportunity to manage iconic facilities and lead community-focused programs that enrich the lives of residents and visitors alike. Key responsibilities include:

  • Goldfields Arts Centre - The only multi-functional arts venue in the Goldfields region, featuring a 700-seat auditorium, multiple gallery spaces, dance studio, and various function rooms. This Commercial Business Unit is a cultural hub that offers unique experiences and opportunities for the community.
  • Community Services team - The City’s Eastern Goldfields Community Centre, William Grundt Memorial Library, Goldfields War Museum, C.Y. O’Connor Men’s Shed, and History and Heritage Department. These facilities provide essential services and programs that support and engage community members.
     
  • Goldfields Oasis: This premier recreation facility, which includes a 50-meter heated swimming pool, leisure pool, spa and sauna, water slides, health club, group fitness classes, a creche, function rooms, and outdoor netball courts. The Oasis is a focal point for sports, recreation, and leisure activities in the community.
     
  • Kalgoorlie Golf Course: This top-ranked, 18-hole grass golf course designed by Graham Marsh. is a significant attraction. It hosts the annual WAPGA tournament and offers high-quality facilities such as the Waterhole Bar and Bistro, a purpose-built marquee, and a clubhouse that can host up to 150 people

Who we are Looking for:

  • We are seeking an enthusiastic community-focused leader with a proven track record in managing diverse teams and projects. If you thrive in a fast-paced, multifaceted work environment, and are eager to contribute to our purpose of improving community life in Kalgoorlie-Boulder, then we want to hear from you. Our ideal candidate will have:
  • Tertiary qualifications and significant management experience in Community Development, Community Engagement, Social Planning, Recreation Management and/or Community Services
  • High-level critical thinking and problem-solving abilities with the capacity to quickly solve complex and diverse issues
  • Strong business, financial, and event management skills
  • Track record of leading high-performing teams, including coaching and mentoring staff and instilling a strong community focus
  • A high level of initiative and ability to respond effectively to change
  • Exceptional interpersonal communication skills, including considerable experience in cross-cultural engagement and communication methods

Special Requirements:

Our successful candidate will need to obtain a Working with Children Check within 60 days of commencing the role; and hold a current ‘C’ class drivers licence.

You will also need to have a National Police Screening and a pre-employment health assessment as part of the appointment process.
