About the role

The Division Manager, Strategic Planning is a full time position reporting directly to the Director of the Planning and Environment Department and based at the Moruya Administration Office.

Your main duties will include:

  • Leading the Strategic Planning Team to actively engage with the Councillors, community, and staff across the organisation and government agencies on advocacy, policy and development issues.
  • Lead the Strategic Planning Team in the development, implementation and review of statutory plans, studies, policies and guidelines in relation to the strategic land use planning, coastal and floodplain management, natural resource management, sustainability education, invasive species management, and heritage planning.
  • Conduct special assignments and assessments of the most complex strategic matters requiring expert knowledge and experience.
  • Contribute to the development of strategies and initiatives both at the Directorate and Organisational levels.

Salary Information

An attractive salary package will be negotiated with the successful candidate, inclusive of a cash component, Divisional Manager Allowance, fully maintained Council salary packaged vehicle (including full private usage and 11.5% superannuation.

Appointment to this position is subject to the following:

  • A satisfactory outcome as a result of a National Criminal History Record Check.
  • Medical clearance to verify that you are safely able to undertake the duties of the position.

About you

You will be an experienced manager who can confidently work autonomously and strategically to deliver on deadlines. You will have an ability to understand and assess complex technical issues. Your ability to clearly write concise reports and your specialist skills and knowledge will set you apart from the rest. Your application will demonstrate the following:

  • Tertiary qualifications and relevant experience in a related field.
  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation and statutory requirements.
  • Experience in stakeholder engagement, conflict management, negotiation and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement concepts and ideas establishing organisational / reporting frameworks to support strategic directions.
  • Ability to deliver and ensure effective people management within the Division.
