About the opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced, self-driven, and talented professional who is passionate about Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD) assets, on a full-time, term contract basis for up to 5 years.

The role primarily involves field inspection, including risk and condition assessment of WSUD assets, establishing asset handover processes, ensuring continuous improvement of WSUD assets, and working closely with the Asset Engineer to enhance asset renewal forecasting, maintenance planning and annual budget submissions. 

Qualifications and experience

Essential:

  • Tertiary qualifications in civil or environmental engineering, or TAFE Certificate of trade or equivalent in a relevant field
  • Experience in the construction and maintenance of WSUD assets
  • Demonstrated experience in the establishment, handover and maintenance of WSUD assets
  • Demonstrated experience in the interpretation of WSUD design and specifications
  • Demonstrated ability to work with key stakeholders to solve problems
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills with an ability to work in a team environment
  • Demonstrated commitment to customer service
  • Current class ‘C’ driver’s licence.

Desirable:

  • Relevant local government experience
  • Experience in the use of ESRI GIS software
  • Experience in the use of mobile field applications
  • Availability to work flexible working hours
  • Understanding and demonstrated experience in asset collection, risk management and condition assessment
  • Staff and contractor supervision experience
  • Proficiency in use of and application of computers and computer packages including, Microsoft Word, Excel, GIS and mobile field applications
  • WorkCover approved General Induction for Construction Work in NSW
  • Experience in TechnologyOne including CiAnywhere.

Remuneration and benefits

The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement.

  • Entry level for this position starts at $1,560.32 per week, plus an additional 10.32% in accordance with Council's flexibility agreement
  • 41-hour working week
  • Rostered Day Off (RDO) every fortnight
  • Employee benefits such as leave entitlements (where applicable), 11.5% employer contribution payable to your nominated superannuation fund, Fitness Passport, gym membership discounts, and social clubs.
