About the role

Central Coast Council owns, operates and manages three dams, 11 treatment plants, over 50 reservoirs, 350 pumping stations and nearly 5,000km of pipelines for you to plan and manage as well as undertaking planning and investigations to support an expanding annual capital program of over $100M per year.

The role of Asset Engineer is responsible for contributing to the provision of water and sewer services to the community through the development and implementation of effective asset management strategies. This role will contribute to the delivery and functions and responsibilities of the 'asset owner' for the Water and Sewer Directorate and seeks to ensure it maximises the value of our assets for the community. 

Reporting to the Lead Engineer Asset Management, the Asset Engineer will be responsible for delivering on asset management strategies to effectively manage asset risks, deliver required levels of service and ensure effective management of whole of life costs for all Central Coast Council water supply and sewerage assets. This role will also provide technical support to the broader Water and Supply Directorate during the delivery of identified projects and in response to operational events. 

In addition, this role will require project scoping and development activities for water and sewer related projects from inception through to selection of preferred options and preparation of business cases, under the guidance of the Senior Asset Engineers.  

This position is required to provide quality customer service and create value for the community.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A degree qualification in Engineering or related field OR demonstrated solid contemporary experience in a similar role, combined with ongoing professional development
  • A current Class C Drivers Licence
  • A current Construction General Induction Card
  • Demonstrated experience in asset management and planning within a water business or related; with water industry experience within project delivery or operations/ maintenance being highly desirable
  • Proven ability to assess and interpret information from various sources to formulate recommendations and provide specialist advice to enable the organisation to achieve quality outcomes

  • The salary range for this position sits between $85.8k - $103k + 3.5% Civil Liability Allowance (in accordance with the Award) + 11.5% superannuation
  • This is a Permanent full-time role.
  • This role will be able to access a 9 day fortnight
  • We are able to offer hybrid and flexible working conditions for this role.
  • This role is located at the Nexus Building, 3 Amy Close, North Wyong. 
  • Successful candidates will be required to have vaccinations against Hepatitis A and B and Tetanus.
