About the role

This role will see you preparing asset management strategies, maintenance, renewal and rehabilitation programs to manage asset risks, and ensure management of whole of life costs for all Central Coast Council's water supply and sewerage infrastructure assets.

Central Coast Council owns, operates and manages three dams, 11 treatment plants, over 50 reservoirs, 350 pumping stations and nearly 5,000km of pipelines for you to plan and manage as well as undertaking planning and investigations to support an expanding annual capital program of over $100M per year.

Reporting to the Lead Engineer Asset Management, the role of Senior Asset Engineer is responsible for identifying projects and development activities in response to operational events, scoping projects, working right through the inception, selection and preparation of business cases stages and finally to handover for construction and delivery stage, always on hand to provide technical guidance, mentoring and support on the management of future and current assets.

This position is required to provide quality customer service and create value for the community.

key activities of this role include:

  • Preparing, reviewing and updating management and planning documents, including inspection, condition and capacity assessment and maintenance schedules, for treatment, collection and distribution network assets
  • Preparing and developing renewal prioritisation tools and subsequent programs including, asset replacement and renewal programs
  • Managing projects from inception to handover to asset delivery, including undertaking investigations and options assessment and preparing project initiation/handover documentation

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A degree qualification in Engineering (Civil, Electrical, Environmental or Mechanical) or related field OR demonstrated solid contemporary experience in a similar role, combined with ongoing professional development
  • A current Class C Drivers Licence
  • A current Construction General Induction Card (or willingness to obtain)
  • Experience in asset management and planning within a water business related area with experience in project delivery 
  • The ability to lead small teams or work as part of teams that consist of multi-disciplinary professionals and trades-based staff.

Other important information

  • The salary range for this position sits between $99.7k - $119.6k + Market Loading + 3.5% Civil Liability Allowance (in accordance with the Award) + 11.5% superannuation
  • This is a Permanent full-time role.
  • This role will be able to access a 9 day fortnight.
  • We are able to offer hybrid and flexible working conditions for this role.
  • This role is located at the Nexus Building, 3 Amy Close, North Wyong.
  • Successful candidates will be required to have vaccinations against Hepatitis A and B and Tetanus.
