About the role

The Civil Program Engineer forms part of a small team of professionals responsible for the management and delivery of the annual Capital Road and Drainage Upgrade Program.  The scope of work encompasses a diverse range of projects including pre-construction activities and finalisation of designs to support cost-effective and timely delivery of upgrades for bridges, roads, drainage and pavements across the Central Coast local government area.

Our ideal candidate will be a qualified Civil Engineer with a background in managing a varied portfolio of works. They will thrive in a team environment, but will also be able to work autonomously, with the drive and motivation to manage their own program of works to completion. This role involves on site inspections and visits to identify and resolve technical matters in a timely manner.

Key Duties:

  • Work as part of a team to finalise the annual Capital Road and Drainage Upgrade Programs based on the Four Year Delivery Program prepared by the Asset Management Section including project scoping, cost estimation, project resourcing and scheduling;
  • Coordinate approval processes, preconstruction activities and finalise designs to support cost-effective and timely delivery of the Capital Road and Drainage Upgrade Program;
  • Liaise with other asset owners and internal / external stakeholders including public utility providers and government departments to coordinate project scheduling and facilitate a place-making approach to project delivery;

This position is required to provide quality customer service and create value for the community.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering OR extensive contemporary experience in road and drainage engineering combined with ongoing professional development;
  • Current Class C Drivers Licence
  • Relevant qualifications in project management or Financial Management

Other important information

  • The salary range for this position sits between $85.8K and $103K annually plus 11.5% superannuation
  • This is a Permanent full-time role
  • This role will be able to access a 9 day fortnight
  • This role is located at the Erina Depot. 

A leaseback vehicle is provided in this role for official duties and private use and your choice of vehicle will be provided when one becomes available in accordance with Council’s Vehicle Policy. In the meantime, either an alternate pre-used vehicle or a vehicle allowance of $200 per week ($10,450 per annum) is temporarily applied for this position due to ongoing issues with supply for new vehicles. 

Council will be creating an eligibility list from this recruitment process and may utilise this eligibility list to fill other permanent or temporary vacancies.
