Waste Operations Officer (Regional)

About the Opportunity

The Waste Operations Officer is responsible for providing operational support to the Waste team, and in particular the Waste Coordinator. This includes the facilitation of the operation of all facilities in a cost-effective manner and to facilitate, develop and implement continuous improvements to Council's waste operations.

You will be:

• Facilitate, develop and implement continuous improvements to Council's waste operations, to achieve improved environmental outcomes and compliance with Environmental obligations.
• Coordinate and undertake regular operational audits, completing risk assessments and monitoring where necessary; and providing reports on all relevant items.
• Influence and manage the performance of waste service providers including waste collectors, waste handlers, recycling providers or customer service resources, whether Council day labour or contractors.
• Facilitate the operation of all facilities in a cost-effective manner, within current budgets.

This role is full time, working 36.25 hours per week with a fortnightly RDO.

About yourself

A person in this position will need to hold a relevant Certificate IV or Diploma in Applied Science, Environmental Science or Engineering and experience with contract management OR be able to demonstrate equivalent related experience. It is also highly desirable for the successful candidate to have proven successful experience in waste management, or related fields.

Mandatory Vaccinations (or a valid and verifiable contraindication) are to be evidenced when requested by Council.
