  • Salary Range Band 5A $74,484.28 - $85,025.72 with monthly RDO
  • On call availability and some out of hours work required

The Role:

An exciting opportunity is available to join the City of Ballarat, Regulatory Services Unit. This position requires experience in animal management and welfare, pound and shelter operations and will be responsible for providing leadership support to the Coordinator Animal Services. 

You will maintain the City of Ballarat shelter facility in a clean and sanitary condition in accordance with Council’s procedures, legislation and any Code of Practice, including the Code of Practice for the Management of Dogs and Cats in Shelters and Pounds and the Impounding of Livestock Act. You will also promote and implement community awareness of responsible pet ownership and carry out successul adoption program strategies.

 

About You:

You will be able to demonstrate all of the key selection criteria as follows. 

Key Selection Criteria:

  • Proven ability to supervise a team effectively and efficiently in a busy environment.   
  • Well-developed customer service skills with an ability to enhance the provision of quality customer service delivered by shelter staff to ensure customer needs are a primary focus.   
  • Monitoring and reporting skills along with attention to detail to ensure the shelter operates in line with policies and procedures.  
  • Experience working with companion animals and stock with an understanding and knowledge of animal behaviour and animal welfare.  
  • Competency in IT skills, including ability to prepare reports, improve and maintain processes, and provide other routine correspondence.  
  • Demonstrated experience working in a highly emotionally driven workforce.  
  • Knowledge and understanding of health and safety issues relevant to the position.
