Liverpool City Council will deliver four transformative city-shaping projects over the next three years, worth more than $150 million. The projects will be delivered by the WSIGP Project Delivery team, which comprises a highly skilled and diversified team dedicated to driving excellence and creating the leading project delivery team in NSW local government. 

The four WSIGP projects are:

  • Lighthorse Park
  • Carnes Hill Aquatic Centre
  • Brickmakers Creek; and
  • Streetscape Projects (Railway, Scott, and Macquarie).

About The Role:

We are seeking a Project Controls Officer – a unique new position that has never been offered in Liverpool City Council before. You will be Council’s expert in schedule control, performance management and baseline management, controlling costs, quality, risk, issues and change. The rigour you bring will ensure the team and projects stay on track.

We are looking for someone with exceptional communication skills, a strong attention to detail and the ability to thrive and grow in a dynamic team environment. 

Key responsibilities:

  • Support the WSIGP Project Team to meet reporting, compliance, and project requirements.
  • Analysis and Reporting – Coordinate the preparation of project data and information to develop a complete and accurate picture that informs decisions regarding the management, quality, and control of projects and programs.
  • Performance management – Assist with identifying trends, reporting deviations from the original project management plans (PMPs) and recommending appropriate preventative and corrective actions.
  • Baseline management – Work with key internal stakeholders such as Delivery and Project Managers to monitor and prepare baseline(s) reports – being the reference levels against which a project is monitored and controlled.
  • Schedule creation, management and control – Assist with the identification, application, and evaluation of the schedule control techniques, which support the management of progress/ performance against a timetable and consider factors such as limited resources and estimating uncertainty.
  • Cost control – Assist with the identification, application, and evaluation of cost control techniques to support the monitoring, managing, and reporting of costs.
  • Risk control – Assist with the identification, application, and evaluation of risk control techniques to inform the risk managementprocess.  

ABOUT YOU

The successful applicant will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications such as business planning, project or program management, corporate planning, governance, or relevant experience.
  • MS Project certified or demonstrated experience in the use of the application for complex and diverse suite of projects.
  • Highly capable and demonstrated 5+ years’ experience with creating, updating, and maintaining complex Project Schedules and/ or Programs.
  • Demonstrated 5+ years’ experience in the use and application MS Project.
  • Demonstrated experience in business and/ or project reporting with proven experience in assisting with the planning and delivery of complex projects in a politically sensitive environment.
  • Experience in collaborating with a wide variety of professionals and key stakeholders to produce a consistent control, reporting and monitoring framework.
  • Experience in supporting the delivery and controls requirements for projects.
  • Demonstrated experience writing and editing multifaceted documents such as project plans, reports, policies, guidelines, and manuals.
  • Demonstrated 5+ years’ experience with Earned Value Management (EVM) for the purposes of project control and reporting.
  • Current Class C Drivers Licence.
