As the Laboratory Assistant / Field Officer you will play a crucial role in supporting our water quality testing and analysis operations. This position involves assisting in the collection and analysis of water samples, maintaining laboratory equipment, and ensuring accurate data recording to help safeguard public health.

As an integral part of our team, you will enjoy and diverse range of duties such as:

  • Collecting samples from various sources, including creeks, rivers and waterways.
  • Perform routine laboratory tasks, including cleaning and sterilizing equipment.
  • Collect, label, and store samples properly.
  • Record data accurately and maintain detailed laboratory records.
  • Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized workspace. 

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • A certificate in Laboratory Techniques, Environmental Science, a Sampling Officers course, or relevant science qualifications or equivalent from a recognised educational institution or at least two (2) year’s water sampling experience and at least one (1) year’s laboratory assistance experience.
  • A current QLD C Class drivers’ licence
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.
  • Ability to follow precise instructions and work independently.
  • Basic knowledge of laboratory safety and procedures.
  • Good communication skills and a team-oriented attitude.
