Job Description

The Labourer position at Forbes Shire Council involves carrying out a range of tasks related to Civil Works, Urban (Parks and Gardens), and Saleyards. The successful candidate will be responsible for various physical duties to support the maintenance and improvement of public spaces within the Shire. 

Responsibilities and main tasks include:

• Assisting with the construction, repair, and maintenance of civil infrastructure such as roads, footpaths, drainage systems, and bridges
• Undertaking landscaping and horticultural tasks in urban areas including parks, gardens, and other green spaces
• Participating in the operation and upkeep of saleyards facilities
• Performing manual labor including digging, lifting, carrying, and using hand tools or small machinery as required
• Following workplace health and safety regulations to ensure a safe working environment for oneself and others
• Collaborating with team members to complete assigned tasks efficiently and effectively
• Adhering to council policies and procedures while representing the organization in a professional manner

The role requires a strong work ethic, physical fitness, the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, and a willingness to learn new skills. Flexibility in task allocation across different areas of responsibility may be required.
