Position Description

Provide team supervision to effectively manage the day-to-day operation of staff, delivering outcomes that meet specifications of council’s Natural Area Management Plans and strategies. This includes implementation of site management plans and strategies for Bushland Regeneration, Walking Tracks, Creek line restoration, Soil Conservation and Urban Weeds Programs.
Maintain daily work records in accordance with directions and report all non-conformances, complaints and incidents to your team Leader and Program Leader.
Develop a positive Team culture to ensure increased productivity and work performance, ensuring levels of service are delivered as programmed.

Encourage, promote and deliver safe work practices and address any workplace injury or incident in-line with Council’s Work health and Safety requirements and policies.
Be familiar with relevant provisions of the Local Government (State) Award 2023, Councils policies and conditions of employment and the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (NSW).

•    Bushland Regeneration Certificate IV or Certificate IV Conservation & Land Management or Certificate III CALM with comparable work experience in Natural Areas Management activities. 
•    Minimum of 5 years professional experience in Bush Regeneration with demonstrated experience in team leadership of Bush Regeneration activities, and experience in construction and maintenance of walking tracks.
•    High level specialist knowledge and experience in native vegetation ecology, weed management, bush regeneration, land restoration and management.
•    Sound knowledge of computer applications including MS Office suite and MapInfo or other GIS platforms.
•    Well developed oral and written communication skills, leadership skills, interpersonal and negotiation skills.
•    Current AQF 3 chemical accreditation or equivalent and experience in the safe handling and application of chemicals for the control of weeds and ability to complete AQF 4.
•    Sound knowledge and commitment to WH & S and EEO principles.
•    Class C Driver’s Licence

Remuneration: base salary commencing at $68,704 gross per annum
  + adverse conditions $1035 gross per annum
  + 11.5% superannuation 
  + performance payment 1% - 3.5% annual salary 
  + annual award increase
