ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Council’s Facility Management unit sits within the City Services Directorate and focuses on the cleanliness, compliance, security and safety of the building assets and facilities. Cumberland City Council manages over three hundred and eighty building assets and facilities across the LGA which provide a wide variety of services to our community.

The Facilities Management Supervisor will lead and coordinate the Facilities Operations team in undertaking operational and maintenance activities at all council properties to ensure that property is managed to maximise the benefit to Council, the community and facility users. The position will collaborate with customers, stakeholders and users to provide the required level of service, balanced by budgets, needs and asset management planning. 

The successful applicant will require:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Facilities Management, Building Maintenance and/or extensive relevant working experience in Facilities Management or Building Maintenance
  • Class C drivers licence
  • Sound knowledge of industry best practice, trends and issues in Facilities Management
  • Sound knowledge of the Work Health and Safety Act and Regulation, Environmental Protection standards and regulations and Building Code of Australia
  • Sound knowledge of Building Energy Efficiency Principles
  • Significant experience with local government tendering and procurement procedures and policies
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, manage and supervise multiple teams (including apprentices, contractors and staff) and contribute to team goals and outcomes
  • Proven ability to develop collaborative relationships with peers, customers and community organisations and an ability to work as part of a team with good interpersonal skills
  • Be able to demonstrate a strong customer focus with sound customer service skills and the ability to embrace a system of change and continual improvement
  • Computer literacy, particularly in the MS Office suite of products
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to work productively as a member of a team and contribute to team goals

About this role: 

  • Permanent, full-time position
  • 70 hour fortnight
  • Access to Council's 9 day fortnight Accrued Day Off (ADO) arrangement
  • Located at Council's Guildford West Depot, with frequent travel required across Council worksites, and may be required to work across any of Council’s work locations

Salary information: The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award.

  • Grade 14 of the Cumberland Salary Structure with a salary range of $2,235.94 to $2,571.33 per week, plus 11.5% superannuation
  • The commencing salary will be negotiated, taking into consideration the successful applicant's qualifications, skills and experience related to the role
