The Role:

As the successful candidate you will be working alongside the Environmental Health team and provided with the opportunity to work across our community dealing with residents, businesses and community members to provide high quality compliance and enforcement services in relation to local nuisance and litter control and related public health and environmental protection matters. Every day you will meet a wide range of people in a variety of situations, so you'll need great communication skills and the ability to think on your feet.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer and enforce the Acts and Regulations relevant to the responsibility and functions of the Environmental Health and Community Compliance Division as they relate to local nuisances and litter control in a manner that displays respect and professionalism for both Council staff and the community.
  • Respond to requests for service and conduct routine inspections relating to a range of issues including local nuisances and litter control and related public health and environmental protection matters.
  • Undertake relevant enforcement action as required and in accordance with Councils Enforcement Policy and your delegated authority.
  • Deliver prompt, courteous, and high-quality customer service when handling enquiries from our community, external stakeholders, the public and other departments.

Who You Are:

Our ideal candidate will have a passion for working in a team environment whilst having the ability to work autonomously with minimal direction and dealing with our community to deliver quality outcomes, and will possess the following qualifications and skills:

  • Demonstrated experience in regularity enforcement or similar discipline.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate in a professional manner and to a high standard.
  • Proven experience in delivering high-quality customer service to a broad range of internal and external customers, including people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Local Nuisance & Litter Control Act 2016 and associated regulations, standards and policies and a working knowledge of legislation applicable to the Environmental Health and Community Compliance division
  • Ability to handle case-sensitive material and correspondence with confidentiality.
  • Flexibility to work across a range of hours including afterhours and weekends as required.
  • Certificate IV Regulatory Service or relevant degree or diploma in related discipline and or relevant experience in a related discipline
