Come and join us in the foodie capital of Melbourne. Greater Dandenong is a vibrant, wonderful municipality and our Council colleagues are deeply committed to making a difference and serving the local community. Our Comms & Media team is fun, caring and incredibly supportive.

This is a leadership position with access to Executives, Mayor and Councillors and engagement with important external stakeholders. Help us explain the benefits, manage issues, support brand awareness and keep stakeholders up to date.

We also have two Level Crossing Removals kicking off and a couple of major precinct developments on the cards. Despite these not being Council projects, it’s important we keep our community well-informed and engaged on what’s happening.

About You

You’ll be an experienced strat comms professional with exceptional writing, good judgment, the ability to connect issues and anticipate risk. You’ll be friendly and build your network across Council quickly. Experience on major projects, in the public sector and/or with media will be very highly regarded. A willingness to turn your hand to web updates, social media posts, EDMs, creating reels and other content will also be well regarded.

This role has direct engagement with the Mayor, Councillors and the Executive team. It requires a high level of professionalism and sound judgment. It will be demanding but there’s lots of latitude to shape this role. We provide genuine workplace flexibility to achieve work/life balance.

We’ll provide you with professional development, networking opportunities and the chance to make a difference. Plus, we’ll show you where to fine the best Banh Mi, Afghan chicken rice and burek in all of Melbourne.
