The Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity to work in the City Development department as a Building and Planning Support Officer. This position focuses on providing excellent customer service and administrative support to a range of internal and external stakeholders. This diverse role would suit an experienced Administration Officer who is looking for an opportunity to start their career at Council.

We are looking for a motivated, energetic and positive professional with demonstrated customer service skills and a desire to learn while being part of a friendly and supportive team. To be considered for this role you will be open to working in a fast-paced environment with a variety of tasks where your time management skills will be a great asset. The ability to work as part of a team is essential.

The successful applicant will be expected to provide exceptional customer service regarding Building and Planning enquiries both on the phone and in person and contribute towards providing an enjoyable team environment.

About You

To be considered for this role, you will have the following:

  • Customer service experience; telephone, face to face and via email correspondence.
  • Proven capacity, skills and relevant experience in working with an administrative team. environment to manage a high demanding workload, undertake a variety of tasks and achieve common goals.
  • Good time management skills and the ability to determine work load priorities.
  • Responds to customer inquiries, including the provision of effective and timely planning and related technical advice.
  • Provide assistance and advice to staff in regards to Planning matters.
  • Demonstrated experience in the use of Microsoft Office, Adobe Pro, databases and electronic document management. Knowledge of the Authority and Content Manager (TRIM) systems would be highly regarded.
  • Well-developed verbal and/or written communication skills.
  • Building and/or Planning Support experience would be desirable but not mandatory.
