The Council is seeking applications from suitably qualified and/or experienced staff to meet Council's operational plan requirements for the position of full-time Truck Driver - Gravel Truck and Dog.

Key Accountabilities

Within the area of responsibility, this role is required to:

  • Undertake truck driving activities as part of Council's construction and maintenance programs.
  • Subject to attainment of licencing/certification, operate plant and equipment as required.
  • Carry out other tasks as required and instructed by site supervisor and/or Works Coordinator.
  • Repair roads, pavements, road verges, pathways, footpaths and cycleways using tools, including hand tools equipment and/or machinery.
  • Ensure all prestart checks (daily/weekly) and servicing for plant/equipment utilised is undertaken in accordance with manufacturers specifications and guidelines.
  • Ensure timesheets are correctly completed, signed, leave forms and relevant certification attached and be submitted with leave form, as per the Award.  

Essential Requirements

  • Current NSW Class Heavy Combination (HC) Driver's Licence.
  • Demonstrated extensive experience in heavy vehicles operations ideally gained within a civil works environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in a labouring role.
  • General Construction Induction Card (White Card).
  • Traffic Control Certification (or ability to readily acquire prior to commencement).
  • Working knowledge of roles and responsibilities under WHS Legislation.

Additional Position Requirements

  • Implement Traffic Control Plans Certification (or ability to readily acquire prior to commencement).
  • Participate in Council’s on-call roster.

Condition of employment

  • Grade 8A Entry $1,237.70 to Step 4 $1,361.45 per week plus superannuation subject to the demonstration of qualifications, skills and competencies.
  • Appointment to the position will be in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award 2026 and Council’s salary structure.
  • Council has a flexible work arrangement which includes a nine-day fortnight.
  • A health assessment, if not already completed, which meets pre-requisites for our positions.
