The Resilient and Connected Communities Department proactively looks at our communities needs now and into the future, planning through policy, advocacy, programming, engagement and partnerships. Developing an integrated approach to delivering community impact and leading the development of practices that support the achievement of social value and community outcomes. Building and strengthening community resilience through planning and responsive management of community emergencies and impacts.
 

About the Role:

An exciting opportunity to support the interpretation and recommendations of a number of plans and policies related to the overall Community Resilience & Health team aimed to facilitate continuous improvement and best-practice across public health spectrum. The field of Public and Environmental Health ensures continuous improvement by implementing services for businesses under relevant legislation, ensuring high-quality customer service to Council members and the community. The position will also support the team in managing the changing environment of public health, particularly with legislation changes and government policies.

Skills, experience and certificates:

  • Qualifications necessary for appointment as Environmental Health Officers as declared in the Victorian Government Gazette, 17 December 2020 such as tertiary qualifications in either of the following: Applied Science (Health Science); Public Health (Environmental Health or Environmental Health Management)
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritise and manage work programs
  • A thorough knowledge and understanding of Public Health legislation and current issues
  • Demonstrated communications skills that facilitate effective interactions at all levels including relationships with external bodies and stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment and within Banyule’s values
  • Demonstrated ability to make appropriate and consistent recommendations on enforcement actions
     
  • Eligible for EHPA Registration
