The Role

We are seeking a proactive and dedicated Technical Officer/ Fitter to oversee the operations of the fitting
section within Whitsunday Regional Council. This role will focus on ensuring the efficient and safe maintenance, repair, and installation of water and sewerage mechanical infrastructure, while also aligning with Council’s objectives and performance targets.

In this role, you will be responsible for carrying out and providing quality service delivery and ensuring the complete reliability and safe operations of Council’s infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

1.Perform maintenance, repairs, and installations on water and sewerage mechanical infrastructure, following Asset Management outputs.
2.Respond to equipment failures by conducting maintenance and repairs on mechanical infrastructure.

Operational Accountabilities:

1. Ensure that all work carried out is undertaken professionally, to a high standard and in a safe efficient manner
2. Complete basic office duties such as ordering of spare parts, quotations and maintain accurate records
3. Deal effectively and effectively with internal and external stakeholder, including customer service requests, complaints and general enquiries and transactions
4. Relieve at other locations throughout the region as required
5. Undertake other relevant duties as required

Essential

1. Class MR drivers licence (or willing to obtain)
2. White Construction card
3. Trade Qualified Fitter
4. High Risk Forklift licence (or willing to obtain)
5. Current First aid and CPR certificate
6. Low voltage certificate (or willing to obtain)
7. Working at Heights certificate (or willing to obtain)
8. Working in Confined space certificate (or willing to obtain)
9. Operate breathing apparatus (or willing to obtain)
10. Experience in maintaining, repairing, and installing mechanical infrastructure, particularly within the water and sewerage sector
11. Experience with software for record-keeping and asset management is advantageous
