The Role:

Reporting to the Manager Urban, Recreation and Natural Assets, this newly created position is responsible will play a pivotal leadership role in driving best practice asset management for Council’s building, electrical and lighting assets. The City of Salisbury has a diverse range of buildings and facilities that cater to a wide range of community needs. This includes the newly constructed Salisbury Aquatic Centre and state of the art Salisbury Community Hub.

Working closely with the Community Development Department, community clubs, and a broad range of stakeholders, the responsibilities include:

  1. To ensure that buildings and facilities are maintained and performing in accordance to the asset management plan.
  2. To ensure that Asset Management Plans for building assets, lighting infrastructure and electrical infrastructure are established and operating efficiently and sustainably delivering on strategic objectives and community expectations.
  3. To ensure that good governance practices are in place that manage the full life cycle of assets.
  4. To ensure that energy usage across Council assets are optimised, reducing wastage, operating cost and carbon footprint.
  5. To ensure that Council’s leases and licenses are managed in accordance to Council’s policies and legislation, while ensuring that customers receive good customer care.
  6. Building and maintaining strong relationships with community clubs

Specialist Skills & experience:

  • Highly developed leadership skills
  • Tertiary qualification in asset management, engineering or related field and/or commensurate demonstrated experience in lieu of formal qualifications.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of asset management of buildings, lighting and electrical infrastructure.
  • Proven ability to build positive relationships and consult, negotiate and communicate with all levels of management and staff, government agencies, stakeholders and the community, both verbally and in writing.
  • Highly developed problem solving skills
