About the role

Assist the Project Management Office (PMO) by managing the operating framework for the PMO to drive the delivery of Council’s signature projects. The position will manage high-level project management systems, financial and business analysis and advice to inform project delivery and business performance by Council’s Executive Team.

Duties

Key responsibilities include:

Coordinate the overall operational management of all major projects for the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder, to ensure successful, timely and cost-efficient completion.

Conduct regular site meetings with contractors, document minutes, review and report on progress of works.

Develop and maintain project plans that include risk management strategies and remedial actions for projects that are impeded by unplanned circumstances.

Prepare accurate cost estimations for the City’s budget obligations, which includes liaising with external quantity surveyors where required and identifying opportunities for expenditure reduction initiatives where possible.

Prepare all required progress reports on current projects to the Manager Project Management Office, including reports and project presentations as requested by the Director Engineering.

Ensure all corporate documentation is captured in the City’s record keeping system, in accordance with its Record Keeping Plan.

Ongoing compliance with the City’s Safety Management System and audit programs in line with the relevant Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulations, Codes of Practice, Health and Safety Policies and Procedures.

Foster and maintain partnerships and networks to facilitate best practice provision of community infrastructure and services.

Develop, evaluate, institute, review and maintain appropriate and effective procedural and operational methods in accordance with relevant construction legislations, principles, best practices and processes; this includes compliance to all City policies, procedures and statutory safety requirements.

Create an environment where staff innovation and achievement are emphasised, recognised and leveraged for continual improvement and advancement of City objectives.

Provide a strong level of professional assistance, advice, and customer service while maintaining effective internal and external working relationships with stakeholders.

Who we are Looking for:

To be considered for this position, you will need:

Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Project Management, Quantity Surveying or relevant discipline.

Demonstrated performance in managing and meeting programmed objectives within financial parameters and corporate requirements.

Demonstrated understanding and application of assessment techniques including cost/benefit and value management etc.

Demonstrated experience in project development and significant municipal projects.

Demonstrated performance in the preparation and administration of tender and contract documentation.

Demonstrated performance in successfully drawing stakeholders together and developing an agreed outcome.

Demonstrated performance in successfully delivering projects from conception to hand over.

Current WA “C” Class driver’s licence

Current satisfactory National Police Clearance.
