Permanent Part Time Gardener - Parks & Gardens

Boulia Shire Council has a new opportunity for a Permanent Part Time role within the Town Services Department (Parks & Gardens) for a Gardener.

This role will support the Town Services department in the provision of ‘external yard’ maintenance & beautification of council housing assets to improve the functionality & aesthetics of the space.

Gardening includes all visible features of the land; it accounts for plants, irrigation systems, retaining walls, pathways, pavements, fences, arbors, lighting.

This position will operate external to existing parks & gardens crews & be autonomous in scheduling of works undertaken with direction from the Foreman – Town Utilities & Services.

Works include but are not limited to: lawn maintenance, landscaping, gardening, pruning, fertilizing, irrigation planning & development, earthworks.

a) Industry experience/s or discipline knowledge gained through experience or education
b) C Class Driver’s Licence (mandatory)
c) Construction Industry Safety White Card (mandatory)
d) Current Senior First Aid / CPR (desirable – mandatory to be undertaken)
e) Construction plant tickets e.g : forklift, skid steer loader, backhoe etc are advantageous,
f) Chainsaw/polesaw certifications
g) Sound knowledge of preventative maintenance of small machinery
h) Proven ability to work independently with minimal or no supervision
i) Sound communication, literacy & numeracy skills
j) General labouring skills
k) Ability to contribute to a safe working environment, including developing processes that strive towards zero harm in the workplace
