The Role - Nursery Manager

We’re seeking a people oriented, experienced Nursery Manager. Someone who is passionate about native plants, environmental regeneration, and community engagement, and who has the vision, knowledge and capability to oversee the growth of our native plant nursery to ensure long term sustainable and profitable operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with Senior Management to plan and facilitate the growth of the Nursery
  • Develop and implement marketing and business strategies
  • Oversee plant propagation, nursery production, and retail operations
  • Supervise, coach and support staff and volunteers
  • Deliver outstanding customer service and native plant advice
  • Manage stock, point-of-sale and inventory systems
  • Maintain nursery resources, facilities, and safety standards
  • Collaborate with internal teams to meet all organisational goals

 What You’ll Bring

  • The knowledge, experience and creativity to envision what our nursery could look like
  • Effective people and change management skills, preferably in a community organisation setting
  • Proven project management skills, with a big dollop of patience
  • A collaborative spirit and community-minded approach
  • Minimum Certificate IV in Horticulture or equivalent, or equivalent years of relevant experience
  • Strong knowledge of Australian native plants
  • Experience in nursery management and team leadership, with a focus on coaching staff and volunteers
  • Retail, customer service, and stock control skills
  • Practical experience in irrigation and pest/disease control
  • Strong focus on Workplace Health & Safety and creating an inclusive workplace culture

Essential tickets: Valid QLD Drivers License, and current Blue Card

  • Community-based organisation experience
  • Landscape advice or consultation background
