The Opportunity

As a Maintenance Mechanical Fitter, you'll report to Team Leader Maintenance Mechanical Fitter and support the maintenance, repair, and renewal of Council’s water and wastewater treatment infrastructure. Working as part of a team, this role ensures mechanical assets operate safely, efficiently, and in line with regulatory standards. Responsibilities include routine and reactive maintenance, inspections, technical assessments, and supporting mechanical design and compliance. The role also contributes to asset performance improvement, safety compliance, and effective record-keeping.

What you need to succeed (Essential Criteria):

  1. Trade qualification as Mechanical Fitter (Machinist) with a minimum of four years post trade experience within the Water industry. Knowledge of WHS and relevant legislations and practice guidelines associated to the role of mechanical fitter.
  2. Comprehensive mechanical knowledge and demonstrated experience in maintenance, repair, rehabilitation programs and operation of water and wastewater treatment facilities, and activities such as general lathe, machining skills, oxy cutting, pneumatic and welding.
  3. Well-developed analytical skills and demonstrated innovative and flexible approach to fault finding and problem solving operational and maintenance requirements
  4. Demonstrated ability in the use of computer applications, and operating devices effectively, embracing digital solutions for works activities to enable field productivity and scheduling based systems to facilitate day- to-day operations.
  5. Ability to network effectively with key stakeholders in offering advice and support to delivering operational and maintenance services.
  6. Hold and maintain LR drivers' licence, WHS Induction card, Confided Space Entry Certificate, Working from Heights ticket and Dogman ticket.
  7. Possession of a complete immunisation record for Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, and Tetanus, or a willingness to obtain the required vaccinations prior to commencement.
  8. Willingness to undergo a pre-employment medical prior to commencement
