Leading hand quarry operator Lead, Operate and Improve We are seeking a Leading Hand Quarry Operator at our Byford Quarry to support the daily quarry extraction operations. This hands-on role is ideal for a skilled operator with leadership potential who is eager to take on more responsibility and grow within the company. Working closely with the Quarry Manager and Supervisory team, you will play a key role in ensuring efficient and safe operations, maintaining compliance, and mentoring your team.

What you’ll be doing: Support day-to-day quarry operations, ensuring production and safety targets are met Operate a variety of mobile plant equipment (loaders, haul trucks, excavators, etc.) Assist in training and mentoring quarry team members Monitor equipment conditions and assist in coordinating maintenance activities Ensure strict compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations Promote a safe, efficient, and team-focused work culture Work collaboratively with site leadership and other teams to meet operational goals About you: Experience in quarrying, mining, or a similar heavy industry (leadership experience a plus) Competency in operating heavy machinery used in extraction operations Strong commitment to workplace safety and risk management A proactive and team-oriented mindset with a focus on continuous improvement Ability to multi-task and make effective decisions under pressure Eager to learn and take on new challenges in a supportive environment About Heidelberg Materials With more than 4,000 employees across 300 sites, we have an extensive production and logistics network across Australia.
