About the role

In this newly created role, as the Environmental Management Lead, you will be responsible for providing environmental management and specialist environmental construction solutions to Central Coast Council’s Water and Sewer Department. 

This position is required to provide quality customer service and create value for the community.

About the role:

  • Provide environmental management and investigation services to Council's Water and Sewer Department particularly in the interpretation of environmental legislation and their effects
  • Support project team members to ensure the best environmental outcomes are achieved on all projects
  • Manage specialist environmental consultants, laboratory and environmental engineering services to improve environmental outcomes
  • Keep up to date with changes to environmental legislation as well as developing and implementing appropriate environmental monitoring and assessment regimes to minimise impacts to the environment
  • Deliver formal public consultation, where required, including the preparation and co-ordination of advertising, public display plans and presentations and notifications to customers
  • Initiate investigations, conduct assessment and review of operational and capital projects and provide specialist advice in relation to solutions

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Degree qualification in Environmental Science or equivalent extensive work experience in ecological assessment and environmental legislation
  • Current Drivers Licence
  • General Construction Induction Card (White Card) or willing to obtain
  • Experience working on major infrastructure projects managing environmental risks and major infrastructure projects working in close vicinity to environmentally significant areas
  • Experience conducting environmental research projects and preparing reports and presentations on their findings
  • Demonstrated experience in dealing with ecological assessment under NSW and Commonwealth environmental legislation
  • Ability to engage with various stakeholders on land and environmental matters in open forums
  • Project and contract management skills and experience

Other important information

  • The salary range for this position sits between $99.7k - $119.6k plus 11.5% superannuation
  • This is a Permanent full-time role.
  • This role will be able to access a 9 day fortnight.
  • We are able to offer hybrid and flexible working conditions for this role.
  • Successful candidates may be required to have vaccinations against Hepatitis A and B and Tetanus.

A leaseback vehicle is provided in this role for official duties and private use and your choice of vehicle will be provided when one becomes available in accordance with Council’s Vehicle Policy. In the meantime, either an alternate pre-used vehicle or a vehicle allowance of $207 per week ($10,780 per annum) is temporarily applied for this position due to ongoing issues with supply for new vehicles. 

Council will be creating an eligibility list from this recruitment process and may utilise this eligibility list to fill other permanent or temporary vacancies.
