Building a Better Bunbury Together

We're looking for a number of versatile Construction and Maintenance Workers with proven experience in operating plant and machinery, along with hands-on skills in civil construction. This is more than a plant operator role—it's an opportunity to blend your operational expertise with on-the-ground capabilities, contributing directly to Bunbury's road, drainage, and concrete infrastructure. Your safety and professional growth are priorities at the City, with daily planning, toolbox discussions, and skill development in road and drainage maintenance.

Is This Your Next Career Move?

This role is perfect for someone who thrives on variety—one day, you'll be behind the controls of plant equipment; the next, you'll be physically shaping the City's infrastructure. Ongoing training, coaching and mentoring will enhance your skills and broaden your career prospects in civil works.

Detailed Responsibilities Include:

Plant Operations & Maintenance

Operate and maintain machinery, including excavators, graders, front-end loaders and rollers.

Utilise water trucks to control moisture during roadworks and manage single-axle trucks for other construction tasks.

Hands-On Civil Works

  • Contribute to road construction, drainage systems and path installations by applying your skills on-site.
  • Work to precise levels and plans for drainage, excavation and concrete tasks.
  • Set up and finish concrete structures, lay drainage pipes and construct stormwater pits.

What You Bring to the Role

Proven experience in road construction and maintenance, including operating plant machinery like excavators and skid steers.

Ability to read plans, work to levels, and deliver quality civil works.

  • HR driver's licence (or commitment to obtain within six months) and a White Card.
  • A proactive approach to safety and teamwork.

Desirable Skills

  • Advanced concreting abilities and experience working from technical drawings.
  • Basic Traffic Management or Traffic Control qualifications.

What We Offer You

  • A competitive Level 3 salary of $74,529 (plus super).
  • A 9-day fortnight for better work-life balance.
  • 4 weeks of annual leave with 17.5% loading.
  • Salary sacrificing options for additional super contributions.
  • Reduced gym membership at the South West Sports Centre.
