Commercial Waste Service Officer

Permanent Full Time

Salary: $90,623 to $101,416 per annum (based on 70 hours per fortnight), plus superannuation and a 9 day fortnight and a leaseback vehicle 

Appointed salary in this range will be based on skills, qualifications, and experience.

About us

Hornsby Shire is located on Sydney's upper north shore, approximately 25 kilometres north of the CBD. Known as the ‘Bushland Shire’, our local government area is characterised by bushland comprising national park, major waterways, natural reserves and rural landscape. The rest of the Shire combines urban, rural and open spaces.

About the role

In your new role you will possess strong sales experience, with the ability to follow up on sales leads and also directly undertake cold calling and feet on the street activities to close sales opportunities to grow the business. A team of waste professionals support and assist this role with administrative, communications and marketing expertise, backed by an inhouse customer call center team.

This position is responsible to the Waste Contract Services Manager, the main duties are to;

• Grow and develop the commercial waste services provided by council to local businesses
• Ensure the financial sustainability and maximise profits from commercial waste services
• Undertake a broad range of sales and marketing activities including web content development and promotions, targeted social media, e-newsletters, attending networking and peak body meetings, attend popup stalls, utilise other external communication channels as required
• Actively canvass and liaise with existing and potential commercial customers via face-to-face/feet-on-the-street engagement activities to promote commercial services and provide high level customer service
• Grow the existing commercial customer base, to infill existing commercial runs, and to up sell additional and or new services to existing customers

About you

The Commercial Waste Services Officer position requires an individual with experience in the management of waste related contracts and services in a local government context or a demonstrated ability to rapidly acquire these skills. Significant experience in managing all aspects of providing commercial waste services to local businesses while maintaining required profit margins and actively seeking opportunities to grow and develop the business.

In your new role you will be highly capable in marketing and promoting services, feet on the street business canvasing and liaison to sell waste services and maintain client relationships. Your new role will require you to work in a fast paced and demanding work environment and to achieve results and outcomes in a supportive team environment.
