Casual Tourism Officer

Boulia Shire Council has a vacancy for a casual Tourism Officer to assist throughout the Tourist Season of 2024 at the Min Min Encounter & Boulia Heritage Complex. Availability in June & July will be crucial to this role.

This role will be on an ‘as needed’ basis with some rostering through peak season. Minimum engagement will be 3 hours.

Key Competencies

1. Advanced verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to engage in public speaking with a variety of user groups visiting the Min Min Encounter
2. Ability to work within a small team environment
3. Time management and organisational skills
4. A strong commitment to customer and community service
5. Ability to understand and work towards council’s corporate & operational plans
6. Knowledge of the tourism industry at the local level
7. Ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of local tourism attractions and events
8. Sound cash handling skills and experience with electronic retail stock management such as IDEALPOS

Mandatory Requirements

1. C Class drivers licence
2. Working with Children Check
3. Current police check
